Can I have a massage if I have a cold or flu?
Answer: No. Although massage does boost your immune system and relieve tension, a massage when you have a cold or flu can actually make your symptoms worse. No matter how mild you believe your symptoms are, unfortunately, a massage can actually make your symptoms worse by pushing toxins through the internal organs, when this is a time when you need to conserve that energy to remove the virus. So, in the early days of your virus, stay home, however, towards the very end of your illness, it can help with recovery.
Can I have a massage whilst undergoing chemotherapy?
Answer: Yes, it's very beneficial, provided the massage is light and relaxing and isn't the day before or the day directly after chemo, massage is a lovely soothing way to relax and help circulate lymph through the body without spreading the cancer cells further. Let your therapist know where any tumour sites are, as this can be uncomfortable even with the lightest of pressures.
What is Reiki?
Answer: Reiki is a non invasive form of healing through the direct application of Chi, or a force very similar to Chi. The Reiki energy/chi, manages its own flow to and within the recipient. It draws through the healer exactly that amount of energy which the recipient needs. The healer's job is to get out of the way, to keep the healing space open and to watch/listen for signs of what to do next.
